Haley Lewis was born and raised in Florida where she attended the University of Florida and majored in Chemical Engineering. After earning her Bachelors, Haley interned at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as a GEM Fellow before starting her Master’s and PhD degrees at Northwestern University in Environmental Engineering and Sciences. Now a 4th-year PhD Candidate, Haley studies the extent of cascading benefits associated with implementing green infrastructure in urban environments in Dr. Kimberly Gray’s lab. Haley serves as a Graduate Fellow Intern for the Inclusive STEM Teaching Project where she facilitates virtual learning community and affinity discussion boards online, in addition to contributing to large scale research initiatives. Haley is passionate about making advances in science and technology that will help fight climate change in addition to making STEM accessible to diverse communities. In her free time, Haley likes to paint and watch basketball.
